What is
FuelArmor?
FuelArmor is a heating oil treatment that reduces unscheduled service calls and increases customer satisfaction with oil heat.
What is in it?
It contains stabilizers, organic dispersants, corrosion inhibitor, anti-oxidant and biocide. It is a complete fuel protection package.
How does it work?
The stabilizers and organic dispersants effectively stabilize the chemistry of the fuel and the organic dispersants disperse macroscopic sludge and retards further development in a controlled manner. The corrosion inhibitor protects the internal portion of the tank from rust. The biocide prevents bacteria and fungus from establishing growth. The anti-oxidant prevents the development of sediment due to new metal tanks, heat and water.
What is the recommended treatment rate?
Beckett recommends one 8oz. annual
treatment/maintenance dose which will service
up to 1,000 gallons of fuel.
How does it come packaged?
In an 8oz. easy pour container that is used for the annual
treatment. It is also available in a 55 gallon drum, which will treat 825,000 gallons of
fuel and a 5 gallon pail, which will treat 75,000 gallons of fuel.
What is its flash point?
150°F. (PMCC). This is the same as No. 2 fuel oil (ASTM D396).
What if there is a lot of sediment in the tank? Will it break up the sediment and clog components?
No, FuelArmor contains no solvents. Traditionally, most additives contain solvents, which if used in an older system, will cause sediment to break free and clog components. Customers who have been
using FuelArmor experience a 20-30% reduction in fuel-related service calls in the first year of use. By the third year, many reported virtually eliminating clogged strainer, filter and nozzle calls.
How do you add FuelArmor to the fuel?
FuelArmor can be added in several ways. First, we provide
an 8oz. container that is used to apply the
annual treatment. We suggest this be
done by the technician during his annual
service call. FuelArmor may also be added directly to the fuel truck at the rack. A 26-ounce container will treat 3,000 gallons of fuel.
Beckett also provides a half-gallon container with a 4 ounce graduated reservoir to the technicians and as they identify problem accounts, they spot-treat those tanks with a heavy treatment dose of 4 ounces (250 gallon tanks). One to two treatments typically will bring that tank under control.
DoesFuelArmor need to be mixed?
No, FuelArmor is 100% soluble. It does not have to be agitated or mixed. Once
FuelArmor is added to the fuel, it will become part of the fuel in minutes.
If I over-treat the fuel with FuelArmor
will I create a problem?
No, only in wasting the product.
FuelArmor needs fuel as a carrier. If over-treated, the additive can only disperse so much sediment and any excess treatment will serve no useful purpose.
Are there any physical hazards with the additive?
No. It contains no carcinogens, or solvents and should be treated the same as fuel oil. If it comes in contact with your skin simply wash with soap and water. A MSDS document (Material Safety Data Sheet) is included with all orders.
